Orders & Products

How ordering works, product details, and what to expect

Yes — every item in our store is printed specifically for you after you place your order. We don't hold pre-made stock. This means each piece is fresh, precise, and made with care rather than sitting in a warehouse for months.

The upside is zero waste and maximum quality. The tradeoff is a short production window of 1–2 business days before your order ships.

Most orders follow this timeline:

  • 1–2 business days — printing & quality inspection at our studio in Czechia
  • 1–3 business days — delivery within Czech Republic & Slovakia
  • 3–7 business days — delivery to the rest of Europe
  • 7–14 business days — international delivery (outside EU)

You'll receive an email with a tracking link the moment your parcel is handed to the courier.

Because printing begins quickly, we can only make changes within 2 hours of placing your order. After that, the print may already be in progress and cancellation is no longer possible.

If you need to make an urgent change, email us at hello@nikku.studio as soon as possible and include your order number in the subject line. We'll do everything we can to help.

That's on us. Every order is bubble-wrapped and boxed before leaving our studio, but damage can occasionally happen in transit.

If your item arrives broken or significantly different from what was shown, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with:

  • Your order number
  • A photo of the damaged item & packaging

We'll arrange a replacement or full refund — no arguments, no hassle.

We don't currently offer formal gift wrapping, but all our orders are packed neatly and look great when received. If you'd like a personalised message card included, just leave a note in the order comments field at checkout and we'll print and pop one in.

Custom Orders

Bring your own design or idea to life

We work with the following file types:

  • STL — the standard format for 3D printing (preferred)
  • OBJ — widely supported 3D model format
  • 3MF — modern format with embedded print settings
  • STEP / STP — engineering-grade CAD files

Don't have a file? That's completely fine. You can send a photo, a sketch, a reference image, or even just a description in plain words. We'll assess whether it's printable and come back to you within 24 hours.

Pricing depends on several factors: the size of the model, the material, print settings (layer height, infill), and whether any post-processing is needed.

Here's the process: once we review your file or idea, we'll send you a fixed quote before anything is printed. You only pay when you confirm the price — we never start printing without your agreement.

Most custom pieces fall between €5–€40, though complex or large models may cost more. There are no hidden fees.

Custom orders typically take a little longer than our ready-made products:

  • Up to 24 hours — file review & quote sent to you
  • 1–3 business days — printing once you've confirmed
  • + standard shipping time for your region

If your model is particularly large or technically demanding, we'll let you know upfront if it needs more time.

We can print a very wide range of objects, but there are some practical and legal limits:

  • Minimum wall thickness: ~1.2 mm — thinner walls may not hold up
  • Maximum build size: up to approx. 250 × 210 × 210 mm per piece (larger objects can sometimes be split)
  • No weapons, no illegal items — we won't print anything designed to cause harm
  • No copyrighted models without proof of a valid licence

If your file is borderline, we'll tell you honestly and often suggest alternatives. When in doubt, just ask — we're happy to advise before you commit.

Yes. Every custom order is photographed in our studio before it's packaged. We'll send you the photo so you can see exactly what you're getting before it leaves our hands.

If anything looks off, just say so — we'd rather reprint than ship something you're not happy with.

Shipping & Delivery

Where we ship, how long it takes, and how to track your parcel

We currently ship within the European Union only. Orders are dispatched from our studio in the Czech Republic to all EU member states.

For a full breakdown of shipping costs and estimated delivery times by country, see our Shipping & Returns page.

Shipping rates vary by destination. We offer free shipping on orders over a threshold that depends on your country (shown at checkout).

For most EU countries, the free shipping threshold is €32.99. Below that, a flat shipping fee applies. You'll see the exact cost before you pay.

Once your order is handed to the courier, you'll receive an email with a tracking number and a direct link to follow your parcel in real time.

If you haven't received a tracking email within 3 business days of your order, check your spam folder first, then contact us and we'll look into it.

Within the EU: No customs fees — we're shipping from Czech Republic within the single market.

Outside the EU (UK, US, etc.): Your order may be subject to import duties or taxes imposed by your country's customs authority. These are not included in our prices and are the buyer's responsibility. The amount varies by country and order value.

If you're unsure about customs rules in your country, we recommend checking with your local postal or customs service before ordering.

Tracking updates can sometimes pause for 24–48 hours, especially during cross-border handoffs. This is normal and usually resolves itself.

If your tracking hasn't updated in more than 5 business days and delivery is overdue, please contact us. We'll investigate with the courier and, if necessary, arrange a replacement.

Returns & Refunds

Our 14-day returns window and how refunds work

We offer a 14-day return window from the day your order is delivered. If you're not happy with your purchase for any reason, you can return it to us within that period for a refund or exchange.

Items must be unused, undamaged, and in their original condition. Return shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility unless the item was defective or we made an error.

Custom orders — items printed specifically to your design or specifications — are generally non-returnable, as they can't be resold. This is standard for bespoke, made-to-order items.

Exceptions apply if:

  • The item arrived damaged in transit
  • There was a printing defect that makes it unusable
  • We made an error (wrong colour, wrong size, etc.)

In any of these cases, get in touch and we'll make it right.

Simply contact us within 14 days of receiving your order. Include:

  • Your order number
  • The reason for your return
  • A photo if the item is damaged

We'll reply within 1 business day with return instructions. Please do not send anything back without hearing from us first — unrequested returns may not be processed.

Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we'll process the refund within 3 business days. The refund goes back to your original payment method.

Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take a further 5–10 business days to appear on your statement. If you've waited longer than 14 days total from our confirmation, please let us know.

Materials & Quality

What we print with and how to care for your pieces

Our primary material is PLA (Polylactic Acid) — a bioplastic derived from renewable resources like corn starch. It's widely used for decorative and functional 3D prints because of its excellent surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and low warping.

For specific projects we also work with:

  • PETG — more flexible and moisture-resistant than PLA, good for functional parts
  • ASA / ABS — UV-resistant, suitable for outdoor use
  • Wood-fill & colour-fill PLAs — special aesthetic finishes

If you have a specific material requirement for your custom order, mention it when you submit your request.

Our pieces are designed for indoor decorative use and are very durable in normal home conditions. PLA has excellent rigidity and holds detail beautifully.

A few things to be aware of:

  • Heat: PLA softens above ~60°C. Keep away from radiators, car dashboards in summer, and direct sunlight for extended periods.
  • Water: PLA is not waterproof. Don't submerge or leave in damp conditions long-term.
  • Dropping: Like any rigid material, a hard drop onto a tile floor can cause damage.

Care is simple:

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth or a gentle brush
  • If needed, wipe with a slightly damp cloth — no soaking
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, acetone, or abrasive cleaners
  • Not dishwasher-safe
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent any fading

We print at 0.1 mm layer height as our standard, which gives a very smooth surface with fine detail. Most decorative pieces are virtually indistinguishable from injection-moulded objects at normal viewing distance.

Dimensional accuracy is within ±0.2 mm for most geometries. Very thin features or overhangs may require support structures, which we sand and finish before shipping.

Every piece is visually inspected by us before it's packed — we don't ship anything we wouldn't be happy receiving ourselves.

Our products are safe for decorative and everyday home use. PLA is a non-toxic bioplastic and poses no risk in normal indoor environments.

However, we do not certify our products as food-safe. The layer lines in FDM printing can harbour bacteria, and the filament colourants aren't all food-grade. Please don't use our prints as food containers, cutlery holders that contact food, or drinking vessels.
